The one-stop blog spot for your Nineteenth Century Mustache needs!
Dear Gentle Reader,
Many of the following pages have graphic and clear images of the masculine mustache in all its forms, both sublime and grotesque. My intent is not to shock or titillate, but merely to inform on the subject. The Nineteenth Century gave us many things, but above all it was a hotbed of facial hair experimentation and this is but a poor sampling of those many lost forms.
I usually strive to keep the focus on the mustaches, but I am fascinated by this gentleman's... overly large necklace? extremely secure watch chain? poorly constructed suspenders? flimsy restraints?
Actually, he is the Grandfather of Bling. The Hip-Hop community commorates Sir Charles Mustachio every year at the Bling to the Grandfather of Bling Party held every February 23rd at the 40/40 club in Atlantic City. The bling, unfortuanately unable to be seen in this photograph, is that of one large golden mustache comb.

I am going to have to go with loose restraints... It seems to be the most pluasible of situations.
It is actually a chain attached to a mighty jewel-encrusted brooch that he won recently at a grange hall exhibition.
my vote is for either a grossly ostentatious watch fob, or perhaps it's a fraternal organizational thing.

The gentleman has been chained to the chair by the photographer. However, given the relaxed expression, he's rather fond of such bawdy treatment.
Maybe it was his mustache comb?
